It seems that we can be endlessly focussed on a single thing to the detriment of all else, and, when that task is complete, suddenly we feel totally exhausted.
That’s how I feel right now.
Only in my case, it’s a double whammy. I just finished reworking last years NaNoWriMo project (just nudging 90,000 words), and another story I was working on before November came along.
The thing is, I just wrote 14 episodes over the course of a few days where ordinarily I would write one or two, and work alternately on three other episodic stories at the same time.
But once I started working on it, I decided that while I was in the groove so to speak I would let the story pan out. I’m glad I did.
It could have gone in any direction if I’d stuck to my usual modus operandi, but now I feel it went the way I’d hoped it would. There’s a bit more to do, but it will reach a conclusion soon.
This means I’m free to work on the other three, but somehow, last night, I was looking at one of them, and suddenly ideas were popping into my head at an alarming rate, and when the session was over I had five new episodes and another three in outline.
Somehow, by the time Christmas gets here, I will be able to stop and smell the proverbial roses.
Something else that pleases me, and is entirely unexpected, is that I have sold about 20 copies of my books in the last month. I know I’m not about to be vying for the top of the bestseller list, but it’s satisfying.
